About the race

The Victoria Youth Triathlon takes place at the University of Victoria.  The swim is in the McKinnon Pool, the paved bike course loops Ring Road, and the run course is a combination of grass and sidewalks.

Distances range from a 50m swim, 2K bike and 500m run to a 300m swim, 10K bike and 3K run dependant on age. There is a junior relay for athletes 6 to 11 and a senior relay for athletes 12 to17.  New for 2018 is the BC Super Series race for 13-23 year old draft legal athletes consisting of a 400m swim, a 10K draft legal bike and a 3K run.

All finishers will receive an official Victoria Youth Triathlon finisher’s medal.  Ribbons will be awarded to the top five finishers in each category.

Race Categories:

Male/Female 6-7, 8-9, 10-11, 12-13, 14-17. Draft legal: male/female 13-15, 16-19, U23.

There is a junior relay for athletes 6 to 11 and a senior relay for athletes 12-17.

Relays may be made up of members or either or both genders. A relay team may have one athlete younger than the specified age for the category.

Age categories are determined by the participant’s age on December 31 of the race year.

Distances: 

6-7 – 50m swim, 2K bike, 500m run.
8-9 – 100m swim, 4K bike, 1K run
10-11 – 150m swim, 6K bike, 2K run
12-13 – 200m swim, 10K bike, 2K run
14-17 – 300m swim, 12K bike, 3K run
Super Series draft legal – 400m swim, 10K bike, 3K run
Junior relay – 150m swim, 6K bike, 2K run
Senior relay – 300m swim, 12K bike, 3K run

Course Information:

The swim takes place in the 25m pool at the McKinnon Gym.

The bike course loops Ring Road in a counter clockwise direction.  The bike course is well marshaled and closed to traffic.

The run course is on a mix of grass and pavement.  There is no traffic on the run course.
