About Victoria Youth Triathlon

The Victoria Youth Triathlon takes place at the Panorama Rec Centre in North Saanich. The swim is in the Rec Centre Pool, the paved bike course is contained within the parking lots, and the run course is a combination of grass and sidewalks.
Distances range from a 50m swim, 1.5K bike and 500m run to a 300m swim, 9K bike and 3K run dependant on age. There is a junior relay for athletes 6 to 11 and a senior relay for athletes 12 to17.
All finishers will receive an official Victoria Youth Triathlon finisher’s medal. Ribbons will be awarded to the top five finishers in each category.
Course Information
The swim takes place in the 25m pool at the Panorama Rec Centre.
The bike course is a technical loop contained within the parking lots at the Rec Centre. The bike course is closed to traffic.
The run course is an out and back along the trail to the west of the Rec Centre.
Race Categories
Male/Female 6-7, 8-9, 10-11, 12-13, 14-17, Super Series.
There is a junior relay for athletes 6 to 11 and a senior relay for athletes 12-17.
Relays may be made up of members or either or both genders. A relay team may have one athlete younger than the specified age for the category.
Age categories are determined by the participant’s age on December 31 of the race year.
Distances
6-7 – 50m swim, 1.5K bike, 500m run.
8-9 – 100m swim, 3K bike, 1K run
10-11 – 150m swim, 4.5K bike, 2K run
12-13 – 200m swim, 6K bike, 2K run
14-17 – 300m swim, 7.5K bike, 3K run
Junior relay – 150m swim, 4.5K bike, 2K run
Senior relay – 300m swim, 7.5K bike, 3K run
Super Series – 300m swim, 9K bike. 3K run
